The official website of the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau is www.mackinacisland.org Gives a good overview of the Island, it's attractions, businesses (including other places to stay, but you should know we have the best location, prices and hospitality of them all, please check or ask around yourself) and has a calendar of events. This site also includes some great photos, additional links and points of contact.
The website for the Mackinac State Park Commission is www.mackinacparks.com It has a great deal of local and historical information, some great pictures and ideas for planning day trips, both on and off the Island. The Lilac House also proudly hosts the Camera Signature Gallery on premises. Operated by internationally renowned photographer Mr. Bob Carr, and his lovely wife Karen, the Gallery features many of Bob’s rare and distinctive works. If you appreciate fine art and photography, when on Mackinac Island a visit to Camera Signature is a must! You can also visit him on the web at: www.camerasignature.com
One of our regular guests is wedding photographer Steven Blair. After 30 years behind the lens, Steven has developed a unique & deep appreciation for the real nature of life, which he has incorporated in his own style of Photojournalistic Photography. As a member of the ISP (International Society of Photography), he was honored in Washington D.C. with two separate awards in both 2003 and 2005 for best achievement in Outdoor Photography. Many of the pictures in the Lilac House’s slideshow were taken by Steven. Need directions to our house?
We recommend our guests utilize boat transportation via the Arnold Line Transit Company from either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City as parking is free and their docks on the Island are only a short minute from our home.
From the Arnold Line docks: When leaving the dock, go straight across Main Street and through the small park area. At the end of the park you will see the Post Office, which is on Market St. Make a left and we are the second house on the left.
From the Star Line or Shelpler docks: Make a right on Main St. and proceed one and a half blocks making a left on Astor St. We are on the right side of Astor at the corner of Market.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure you specify the "LILAC HOUSE B & B" should you choose to utilize a dock porter to transport any luggage, equipment or supplies you may have.
