Lilac House Bed and Breakfast
Enjoy the charm of MACKINAC ISLAND

THE Lilac House was built in 1890 by the Early's, one of Mackinac Island's original founding families.  Some 60 years ago Mary Gillespie Thompson returned to her Island home and purchased the house where she raised her family. In 1990, with her kids all grown and husband Charlie retired, they fulfilled Mary's long held dream and converted their home into The Lilac House Bed and Breakfast. In 2006, Mary's son Ken and his wife LoriAnn, purchased The Lilac House and have undertaken extensive and ongoing renovations (you may notice some of these as you go through our Picture Tour below) and they look forward to continuing The Lilac House Bed and Breakfast tradition for many years to come.

ESPECIALLY noteworthy is The Lilac House has been voted Michigan's "Coziest Bed and Breakfast" by readers of the Detroit News. AND in 2105 we were Trip Advisor's Top B&B/INN on the Island!  But what means the most to us is that almost two-thirds of all Lilac House guests are repeats. Over the years many of our guests have become more like friends and family; coming first to visit with my parents and now my wife and I. We sincerely hope you too will choose to come visit with us and make Mackinac Island and The Lilac House a part of your life.

DUE to COVID-19 concerns all our extensive continental breakfast items, selected by each guest upon check-in, will be served in single-serve packaging each morning for the safety and convenience of our guests.
THE Lilac House Bed and Breakfast is a historically-registered site and is family-owned and operated.
